Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to another ATL ReKap blog. I hope you all had a wonderful Saturday, especially since it's the last one of the year 2023.
Georgia Bulldogs
This afternoon, the Georgia Bulldogs faced the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl, and it was quite a spectacle. The Dawgs dominated the Seminoles, allowing them to score only a field goal and securing a decisive victory with a score of 63-3. Carson Beck had an impressive performance, going 13/18 for 203 yards and throwing two touchdowns. Gunner Stockton also showcased his skills, going 6/10 for 96 yards and throwing two touchdowns as well.
In the rushing department, Kendall Milton led the Dawgs with 104 yards and 2 touchdowns from 9 carries. Freshman Roderick Robinson II followed with 70 yards from 7 rushes. The Bulldogs strategically gave many freshmen opportunities to shine, and Daijun Edwards capitalized with 62 yards and 2 touchdowns from 7 rushes.
Quarterback Gunner Stockton also contributed with 46 yards from 7 crucial rushes, helping the Dawgs move the chains. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey had a standout play in the rushing area, grabbing an ISO pass from Beck and taking it to the house for 27 yards, skillfully evading multiple defenders.
In the receiving department, WR Dillion Bell led with 5 receptions for 86 yards. WR Dominic Lovett followed with 3 receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. WRs Anthony Evans III, Arian Smith, and Lawson Luckie each had one reception, and all of them resulted in touchdowns, putting the Bulldogs in a commanding position.
On the defensive side, LB C.J. Allen led the Dawgs in tackles with 6, including 1.5 TFLs. Malakai Starks and Daylen Everette both made impactful interceptions, with Starks returning his for 26 yards before being tackled by the Seminoles' offense.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs' next opponent in the CFB Playoffs is yet to be determined, but I'll keep you all updated on the upcoming showdown.
Atlanta Braves
Shifting gears to the Braves, there's exciting news as the team has acquired LHP Chris Sale and cash considerations ($17 million) from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for INF Vaughn Grissom, as announced by the team. Sale, who pitched 20 games last season, secured 6 wins and 5 losses with a 4.30 ERA. With a career ERA of 3.10, the 34-year old addition is a welcomed surprise, and I'm thrilled that Alex Anthopoulos decided to trade for such a valuable ace.
