In today's football action, the Atlanta Falcons faced the Indianapolis Colts and emerged victorious with a score of 29-10. Taylor Heinicke took the reins as the starting QB for today's game, stepping in after Desmond Ridder was benched once again this season. Heinicke performed admirably, going 23/33 for 229 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Pitts.
On the ground, rookie RB Bijan Robinson from Texas A&M led the rushing game with 12 carries for 72 yards. Second-year RB Tyler Allgeier from BYU contributed 9 carries for 69 yards, including a 31-yard rushing touchdown. Practice squad fullback Tucker Fisk excelled in the blocking game.
Cordarrelle Patterson, recovering from a hamstring injury earlier in the season, saw increased action in the backfield, recording 7 touches for 26 yards. Robinson also led in receiving with 7 receptions for a total of 50 yards, while TE Kyle Pitts followed closely with 3 receptions for 49 yards, including the aforementioned 24-yard touchdown. WR Drake London had 3 receptions for 39 yards, and TE Jonnu Smith contributed 4 receptions for 32 yards.
Defensively, LB Kaden Elliss led the Falcons with 10 tackles, a sack, and 3 TFLs. Nate Landman followed closely with 9 tackles, and Jessie Bates III continued to shine with 6 tackles and his 6th interception of the season. Zach Harrison added to his impressive performance with two sacks, bringing his career total to 3 in just 2 weeks.
Kicker Younghoe Koo was perfect, going 5/5 in field goals with a long of 47 yards and 2/2 for extra points, contributing a total of 17 points for the Falcons.
Looking ahead, the Falcons are set to face Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears next week on New Year's Eve at 1:00 PM. ESPN gives both teams a 50% chance of winning. OT Jake Matthews is questionable, and OT Kaleb McGary, TE John FitzPatrick, QB Logan Woodside, and DT Tommy Togia are all inactive for next week's game.
