Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to another blog on ATL ReKap. I hope you all had a wonderful Monday as we are now just one week away from Christmas.

Tonight, the Hawks faced Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons, defeating them 130-124, with Trae Young having another 30+ point game. Young put up 31 points tonight, going 8-17 from the field and 4-11 from beyond the arch. One highlight of the game was an unbelievable play by Trae Young after putting Jaden Ivey on skates and shooting an off-balance three from the right corner that bounced off the rim three times before going into the basket. What are the chances you see that?

Young also played a dynamic game offensively, recording 15 assists, some of which were just unreal. In the fourth quarter, Young had a no-look pass to Capela, who finished it off with a slam. The very next play, he had another no-look pass straight to DeAndre Hunter for a wide-open three.

Dejounte Murray followed Young in scoring, putting up 20 points tonight, going 8-13 from the field and 3-5 from three-point range. Of those 20 points, Murray put up 17 in just the first half, going 7-11. Murray had one heck of a game, shooting crucial contested threes, mid-range shots, and some layups. He also had an impressive block that Capela recovered to take it down the other side of the court.

Clint Capela returned tonight from a brief hiatus due to a knee injury, putting up 17 points and bringing the Hawks back in the game with 15 rebounds. Having Capela in the game is a must, as he dominates the paint, grabbing boards and making key plays to get the ball down to the other side of the court. Capela went 7-11 from the field today, having a steal and three blocks.

Saddiq Bey and DeAndre Hunter both had great games today, putting up a total of 40 points, and playing well both offensively and defensively. Off the bench, Onyeka Okongwu led in scoring, putting up 14 points with a ferocious poster on the Pistons. Big O went 5-6 from the field, adding 2 rebounds, an assist, and a block.

Garrison Matthews had a key 6-point play tonight after hitting a contested dagger, drawing him to the line. He proceeded to miss the free throw, and Saddiq Bey got the rebound, passing it to Trae Young. Young found Matthews open, who then hit another dagger from beyond the arch, making it a 6-point play in just one possession.

The Hawks had an incredible game tonight, and I hope they can bring that energy on Wednesday evening as they face the Houston Rockets. The Hawks are favored to win 55% to 45%, and my money is on the Hawks, especially with Victor Oladipo ruled out for the Rockets, making it a good game in the paint. Bench star Bogdan Bogdanovich has also been ruled out due to an ankle injury, as he did not play tonight. Additionally, second-year star AJ Griffin and Mouhamed Gueye are out due to their respective injuries.

To wrap up tonight’s blog, let’s wish Jalen Johnson a very happy 22nd birthday today. I hope he recovers soon from his wrist injury, and I am excited to see him back on the court again soon.

I hope you all have a good rest of your night, and I will catch you all on Wednesday night, recapping the Hawks and the Bulldogs!
