Good evening fellow Braves fans, and welcome back to another blog on ATL ReKap. I hope you're all doing well on this September evening. Let's dive right in.
Unfortunately, the Braves took another tough loss to the Cardinals, finishing 11-6, with Spencer Strider on the mound. Strider's performance was uncharacteristic, lasting only 2 innings and conceding 6 hits and 6 runs, though he did manage to strike out 5. It's rare to see this kind of outing from Strider, who has been a cornerstone in our rotation.

Currently, we have some breathing room in the standings, allowing us to absorb a few losses and still maintain our top spot in both the National League and the league overall. On a brighter note, Matt Olson crushed his second homer of the series in the sixth, sending it sailing 427 feet down the right-center field line. This blast marked Olson's 46th homer of the season, placing him back at the forefront of the home run leaderboard in the regular season.
In the same inning, center fielder Michael Harris II came through in the clutch with a single RBI, driving in two runs. Then, in the following inning, third baseman Austin Riley mirrored Olson with his own second homer of the series, launching a 420-foot bomb to center field. It's worth noting that our offense has been firing on all cylinders this season. The rotation, however, could use some fine-tuning as we approach the final stretch of the series before the postseason kicks in.

Post-game, manager Brian Snitker revealed that RHP Michael Soroka's season is officially over due to shoulder inflammation stemming from last night's game against the Cardinals. In light of this, rookie Darius Vines has been called back into the rotation, while Ben Heller returns to the bullpen, filling in the gaps left by Soroka and McHugh heading to the IL.

Tomorrow, at 7:20 p.m., the Braves will wrap up the series against the Cardinals at Truist Park. Max Fried is slated to start, boasting a 6-1 record this season with an impressive 2.52 ERA. Let's cross our fingers for a solid win to salvage this series and avoid a sweep by the Cardinals.
Shifting gears to the Falcons, there's been an intriguing development. Veteran Cordarrelle Patterson has been placed in the "Joker" position, set to play a hybrid role between running back and wide receiver when the Falcons kick off their regular season this Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Carolina Panthers. The starting lineup is expected to feature Desmond Ridder, alongside Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Grady Jarret.

Unfortunately, CB Jeff Okudah was sidelined in today's practice due to an ankle injury he sustained a few weeks ago, which led to him being carted off the field. While he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, it's anticipated that his status will be a game-time decision for the Falcons.

Stay tuned for more updates and analysis. Let's rally behind our teams and make this a memorable season!
