Good evening and welcome back to another edition of ATL ReKap. I trust you're all enjoying your evening, although the Braves couldn't maintain their momentum after a sweeping victory against the Cubs. Unfortunately, tonight, they faced a loss against the Washington Nationals in the final series opener of the regular season.
Allan Winans took the mound tonight, but his performance left something to be desired. He pitched for 5 innings, conceding 6 hits, 6 runs, and striking out only 2. Given his ERA of 5.29, it might be wise for the Braves to consider other options in the postseason.

Brad Hand took over and managed only 2/3 of an inning, giving up 2 hits and a run, with 2 strikeouts. Jessie Chavez, though back in the bullpen, is yet to find his form, surrendering 2 hits and 3 runs.
With the top seed in the postseason already secured, the Braves are wisely affording their players some well-deserved rest before the NLDS.
The Braves displayed their first-inning prowess once again, with Ronald Acuña getting on base and Matt Olson driving him home with a single, adding to the franchise's RBI count. In the second inning, Acuña's fielder's choice sent shortstop Nicky Lopez across the plate. Acuña's exit in the third inning, possibly for rest, saw Kevin Pillar take over in right field.
In the subsequent inning, an amusing incident occurred as Matt Olson's hit bounced up and hit him where it hurts. Luke Williams stepped in as the baserunner and continued to hold down first base for the remainder of the game.

In an unusual play in the bottom of the 5th, center fielder Forrest Wall singled on a ground ball, but a mishap from second baseman Luis Garcia sent the ball into the outfield. Nicky Lopez seized the opportunity, diving from second to third, and then, taking advantage of another error from Luis Garcia, he dove home, scoring from first. This spectacular play not only brought in a run but also advanced Forrest Wall to third. The momentum carried through as Kevin Pillar grounded to first, allowing Forrest Wall to score. Following that, second baseman Ozzie Albies hit a fly ball to center field, turning it into a triple and bringing Kevin Pillar home.

As we reflect on this game, I'm fervently hoping that the Braves will have a reliable rotation and bullpen for the upcoming NLDS. Tomorrow, the Braves will resume their series against the Nationals at 3:10 PM EST at Truist Park. Be sure to stick around after the game for a comprehensive recap!
