Good afternoon, fellow Braves fans! Welcome back to your go-to blog for all things Atlanta sports. I'm your host, Kap, and let's jump right into last night's thrilling game.

In a nail-biter, our Braves faced off against the Chicago Cubs, narrowly clinching a 7-6 victory. Bryce Elder took the mound but had a tough go, lasting only 3 innings, surrendering 7 hits and 5 runs, with just 2 strikeouts. It's clear Elder's recent outings haven't been up to par, and he'll need to step up before the postseason kicks in.

Now, let's talk offense. Last night, our Braves displayed some serious grit, rallying from a 6-run deficit and ultimately seizing control in the 8th inning. One standout performance came from Kevin Pillar, who held down left field. Pillar consistently brings an element of surprise to the game, and last night was no exception. He launched an absolute bomb to center field, marking the Braves' 300th home run of the season. We're inching closer to surpassing the 2019 Twins' team record of 307.

It was a special night for former Brave, Dansby Swanson, who received a well-deserved standing ovation from the Atlanta faithful during his first at-bat back in the A. Swanson also reconnected with former teammates and colleagues before the game, reminding us all why he's a fan favorite.

And let's not forget about "La Bestia," Ronald Acuña Jr. In the 7th inning, he blasted a rocket, bringing catcher Sean Murphy across the plate. This marks Acuña's 41st homer of the season. He's the clear frontrunner for the NL MVP award, and his stats speak for themselves.

Props to Forrest Wall, who showcased his speed and skill as a base runner last night, stealing second in the bottom of the 8th. This play proved pivotal, contributing to the two runs scored in the 8th inning, which ultimately secured our lead after Sean Murphy capitalized on a fielding error, bringing Matt Olson home along with Wall.

Looking ahead, tonight we're set for game two of the series against the Cubs at 7:20 pm EST. Keep an eye on rookie Darius Vines, currently 1-0 with a 4.40 ERA. I'm eager to see Vines on the mound, especially considering Morton's absence and Fried's return from the IL.
