Good evening, fellow Scoopers, and welcome back to our second blog at ATL ReKap! Let's dive straight into the action.

Tonight, the Braves secured a convincing victory in the series opener against the Yankees with a final score of 11-3. Max Fried is gradually regaining his form, delivering an impressive 6-inning performance, conceding only 2 runs while striking out 2. Unfortunately, Ozzie Albies had to exit last night's game against the Mets due to a hamstring injury, landing him on the 10-day IL. This marks his first absence from the lineup this season. However, I'm optimistic that this brief stint on the IL won't be prolonged, and Albies should be back on the field before we know it.

In Albies' absence, Michael Harris II stepped up to fill his shoes second in the lineup. Harris showcased his skills with an RBI single in the second inning. Meanwhile, the newest addition to the Braves infield, Nicky Lopez, took on the role of second baseman with remarkable prowess. Lopez delivered an outstanding performance, going 3 for 4, contributing 3 runs, and scoring one himself. This is a golden opportunity for Lopez to shine and prove his value, possibly challenging Marcell Ozuna's position as the designated hitter when Albies returns. Hopefully, this period gives Lopez the chance to cement himself as a starter and secure ample playtime during the postseason. The decision to bring him into our lineup has been a brilliant move, and I'm eagerly anticipating his future contributions.

Shifting our focus to tonight's game, Riley smashed a solo monster home run to the Chophouse in the bottom of the first, marking his 28th homer of the season. Eddie Rosario also played a crucial role, driving in runs with an RBI single in the third and a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, both clearing the Chophouse fences. The Braves offensive power continues to dominate, and they're even on track to surpass the record for the most home runs in a single season—currently at 227, well ahead of any other team in the league.

Now, let's briefly touch on last night's game. Yonny Chirinos got the start, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 7 hits and 6 runs while striking out 5. Personally, I'm not entirely sold on Chirinos as a starting pitcher, given his background as a reliever with the Rays. While he did start in the past, it's evident that he may not have the same strength as a starting pitcher anymore. I would prefer to see him shine as a solid reliever.

Now, a topic that's on everyone's mind: what if Chirinos transitions to the bullpen or even gets sent down to the minors? I've always been a steadfast supporter of Michael Soroka, who's been through a lot, from his high school days to overcoming Achilles injuries. It feels like the Braves haven't given Soroka sufficient time to adjust to the big leagues, especially when we had Max Fried and Kyle Wright out at the time. I have immense respect for Soroka, and I'm disheartened that he's been moving between the minors and the majors so frequently. This kind of situation can undoubtedly impact his confidence. While I understand the business aspects, granting Soroka the chance to prove himself wouldn't hurt, given our strong position in the league with solid pitchers and an exceptional offense.

Switching gears to the Falcons, exciting news has emerged that the first-round rookie running back from Texas, Bijan Robinson will take the starting spot in Friday's preseason game against the Bengals at 7:30 pm EST.

We'll continue to provide daily updates on Falcons roster changes and preseason progress, so be sure to stay tuned as we discuss Game 2 of the preseason against the Bengals on Friday night!
