"ATL ReKap: Georgia Bulldogs Undefeated Streak Continues and Braves' Dynamic Offseason Moves

Writer: Aden KapadiaAden Kapadia

Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to another ATL ReKap blog. I hope you're all enjoying a fantastic Sunday morning. Let's dive right in.

The Georgia Bulldogs continue their impressive streak, reaching 11-0 for the season after defeating the Tennessee Volunteers yesterday with a convincing score of 38-10. Quarterback Carson Beck delivered an outstanding performance, completing 24 out of 30 passes for 298 yards and throwing three touchdowns.

Wide receiver Dillion Bell showcased his versatility, not only contributing to the receieving game but also executing a trick play. He threw an 18-yard touchdown to Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, who had an outstanding day with two touchdowns and 7 receptions for 91 yards. Bell himself had a rush for 4 yards and caught a touchdown, amassing 5 receptions for 90 yards.

In the rushing department, Kendall Milton led the Dawgs with 14 carries for 66 yards, scoring a touchdown, while Daijun Edwards followed with 11 rushes for 34 yards. Brock Bowers added to the offensive success with 7 receptions for 60 yards, including a touchdown.

Defensively, Tykee Smith maintained his consistency with 10 tackles, and Javon Bullard followed closely with 6 tackles. Looking ahead, the Bulldogs are set to face their in-state rivals, the Georgia Tech Jackets, next Saturday at 7:30 PM. Be sure to stay tuned for the post-game recap.

Shifting gears to the Braves, there's been a flurry of recent news. Ronald Acuña Jr. made history this season and was rightfully named the NL MVP. Achieving membership in the 40-40 club, he went even further, becoming the first to reach 40-50, 40-60, and 40-70. Acuña's remarkable list of accomplishments solidifies him as a standout player in Major League Baseball. Congratulations, Ronnie!

In trade news, Kyle Wright has been traded to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for RHP Jackson Kowar. Unfortunately, Wright will miss the 2024 season due to shoulder surgery. The Braves also traded RHP Nick Anderson to the Kansas City Royals for cash, as Anderson was set to be non-tendered. Additionally, the Braves made a significant trade, acquiring LHP Aaron Bummer in exchange for Michael Soroka, Jared Shuster, Nicky Lopez, Braden Shewmake, and Riley Gowens.

Looking ahead, the Braves will host the 2025 All-Star Game, as announced by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. In the free-agent market, the Braves and Cardinals are among the early suitors for RHP Aaron Nola, according to Jon Morosi.

In managerial news, Ron Washington is set to become the next manager for the Los Angeles Angels, with Eric Young Sr. joining him, as reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today. On the roster front, the Braves officially declined options for Eddie Rosario, Collin McHugh, Kirby Yates, and Brad Hand, making them free agents.

Stay tuned for more updates and a recap after the game against the Georgia Tech Jackets.
