Good evening and welcome to the first Sunday of the 2023 NFL Season. This afternoon, the Falcons secured a victory against the Carolina Panthers with a final score of 24-10. First-round running back, Bijan Robinson, showcased an impressive performance, carrying the ball 10 times for 56 yards and securing a receiving touchdown from second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder. Ridder completed 15 out of 18 passes, amassing 115 yards and delivering a crucial passing touchdown to the rookie running back, Bijan Robinson. Additionally, Tyler Allgier, the second-year running back from BYU, had a standout game, recording 15 carries for 75 yards and achieving two rushing touchdowns - marking his first-ever multi-touchdown game. Notably, Kyle Pitts made a spectacular 34-yard reception, overcoming a defender in the fourth quarter and advancing the Falcons closer to the end zone. Following this, Allgier capitalized on the momentum, scoring a 3-yard touchdown.

Turning our attention to the Falcons' secondary, Jessie Bates was nothing short of exceptional, boasting two interceptions, 10 tackles, and even forcing a fumble. If he were a fantasy player, Bates would undoubtedly have earned an impressive score. The Falcons' defense maintained relentless pressure on Bryce Young and his offense, demonstrating a dominant performance throughout the game. This victory sets an excellent tone for the start of the season, and we eagerly anticipate the upcoming match against the Packers at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Downtown Atlanta next week. Join me for a comprehensive recap after the game.
Shifting gears to the Braves, they emerged victorious in their series against the Pirates, concluding with a 5-2 win this afternoon. Allan Winans delivered a solid performance, pitching for 6 innings, surrendering 6 hits and 2 runs while striking out 8. Surprisingly, no home runs were recorded by either the Braves or the Pirates in today's game. Matt Olson contributed with another RBI, bringing in two runners in the bottom of the 7th inning, solidifying his position at the top of the RBI leaderboard. In the 7th inning, Ronald Acuna provided an amusing moment when he hit a line drive to right-center field with men on first and second. He made a dash for second base but fell short, prompting the Pirates' second baseman to attempt a tag with the ball, as Acuna jogged back to first since there was no man on first to tag him for the out.

Tonight, the Braves officially secured their spot in the postseason, claiming the first seed and bypassing the Wild Card competition. Thank you for joining us on ATL ReKap this evening, and we look forward to having you with us again tomorrow night!
